BIRD, Lucknow is a society promoted by National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD).

BIRD, an ISO 9001:2015 organisation, was established in November 1984 by National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) for meeting the capacity building needs of the client institutions like banks, financial institutions, NGOs and voluntary agencies.

To emerge as the premier Institute of the Developing World offering Training, Research and Consultancy services to its customers and undertaking other related activities in the field of agriculture and rural development banking.

  • Commitment and competence building of people in Rural Financial Institutions (RFIs) and other partners in Rural Development through training.
  • Help in building viable and vibrant RFIs through Organisation Development, Consultancy and Research.
  • Help building appropriate systems for delivery of financial services.

Words like In-House and In-campus are used interchangeably which means that program is conducted in BIRD, Lucknow campus. On-location programs are conducted outside the campus at various locations in the country.

The training programs conducted by BIRD are mostly sponsored by NABARD and hence are free for the participants. However, in some programs, there is a requirement of a nominal registration fee. The nominating institutions are required to look for such information in the program brochure attached with the announcement letter.

We also conduct customised programs for client institutions that are paid for by the institutions concerned.

Yes, hostel facility is provided for participants of in-campus/in-house programs. You can contact the front desk at the hostel reception for any assistance.

The participants are provided with self-contained, single/ double occupancy air-conditioned rooms and boarding facility.

NO. It will not be possible to accommodate pre-dated and post-dated extension of participant’s stay beyond the normal training period. In case of exigency, the participant’s request may be accommodated subject to availability of facility. However, the participant will have to bear the cost thereto.

NO. It will not be possible to extend the boarding and lodging facilities to participant’s spouse and/or guests.

Training programs at BIRD are conducted throughout the year. Please look out for the announcement on our website and contact your employer for sending your nomination. Please note that nominations received from client institutions for the announced programs are confirmed on first-come-first-served basis.

BIRD campus is located in Sector-H, LDA Colony, Kanpur Road, Lucknow – 226 012 and is 5 km away from Choudhury Charan Singh International Airport. It is around 8 kilometres away from Charbagh Railway Station, Lucknow. Local transport like Auto / Taxi / City Bus is available from the airport / railway station / bus stand to reach the institute.

Yes, we provide online training programs. The mode of training (on-line / in-campus / on-location) are uploaded on our website and client institutions are intimated through announcement letter. You can visit our website and contact your employer for updates.

The regular class timing is 9:30 AM to 5:15 PM during the program period.

Enrolment will be made on receipt of the nomination form in the prescribed format enclosed in the announced programme. The nomination/s are to be forwarded to us by email as early as possible as the intake of participants for the programme will be on a “first come first served basis”. The nomination along with the programme fee, if applicable, may be forwarded to us so as to reach us before the mentioned last date.

  1. All guidelines and COVID-19 protocols of Govt. of India and respective State Governments, in respect of tours / travels must be strictly adhere to.
  2. Participants must undergo thermal scanning on arrival at reception and before entering classrooms every day.
  3. Participants must wear masks, preferably certified N-95 masks, compulsorily while attending classes and while moving around in the campus.
  4. Participants must follow social distancing norms during their stay in the campus.
  5. Participants may avoid going outside the campus for market purchases, etc., to protect themselves, fellow participants and campus inmates from COVID-19.
  6. Hand sanitizers and masks would be provided to all participants on their arrival.
  7. In case anyone suffers from COVID related symptoms during their stay at BIRD, she/he must immediately isolate himself / herself in the hostel room and consult Bank’s Medical Officer (BMO) and intimate the Programme Coordinator without fail.
  8. In case of participants requiring a RT-PCR report for their return journey, they may contact Hostel reception desk to facilitate swab collection by M/s. Nivaran Private Limited / Saral Pathology / Apollo Medics.
  9. Vaccination certificate should be brought by the participants and may be shown if required.
  10. Participants are advised not to call any visitors or come along with family members during their stay in campus.
  11. Even if common facilities (like gym and multipurpose hall) inside the campus are functional, it is advised to avoid any type of crowding in those places.

Although we wish all the participants a very pleasant stay & good health during their visit to BIRD, but we would like to request the nominating institution not to depute such officers for training, who are suffering from serious ailments. Further, in case any participant falls sick during the training and requires specialist attention/ hospitalization, although medical facilities shall be arranged by BIRD but all the expenses incurred by BIRD in providing medical care shall have to borne by the institution which has deputed the participant. There is no in-house medical officer available 24x7 on campus.
